Slate Creek Animal Hospital is a small and large animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.
The small animal facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and boarding kennels. Large animal facilities include a barn treatment area, indoor stalls with small outdoor paddocks, digital x-ray unit, and round-pen. We also have a fully stocked truck for ranch visits. At Slate Creek Animal Hospital we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn’t feeling well, but to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.
Dr. Betsy Gray, DVM

Dr. Gray has been with Slate Creek Animal Hospital since 1987 initially practicing both small and large animal medicine and surgery. In 1989, just 2 years into her career as a veterinarian, Dr. Gray purchased the practice from Doc Haley and was the sole owner from 1989 until 2020. In her 30+ years of tenure at Slate Creek she created a legacy of exceptional, compassionate animal care and left some PRETTY BIG shoes to fill! Dr. Gray sold the practice in 2020 to Dr. Vos and continues to care for small animals two days a week. During her 5-day weekends, Dr. Gray enjoys adventures in the Sierras with her husband Ney, two children, and of course, her dog Ande. When she is not at Slate Creek working, she is probably rock climbing, skiing, hiking or kayaking… and enjoying every moment with her husband and family!
Dr. Christina Vos, DVM

Dr. Vos has been with Slate Creek since graduating from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. After enjoying more than 20 years of large and small animal practice, she has taken over the reins as owner of Slate Creek Animal Hospital. Dr. Vos and her husband Paul have 5 children as well as 2 horses, 2 donkeys, and their beloved pups Cooper, Kai, Beau and Galley. When she’s not at Slate Creek caring for patients or handling the practice mechanics, you will most certainly find her on a beach somewhere or paddling into the sunset on the salty Caribbean Sea.
Dr. Judy Mouritsen, DVM

Dr. Judy Mouritsen has practiced veterinary medicine in the Foothill area since her graduation from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. She joined Slate Creek Animal Hospital in 2020 and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on our team! Dr. M brings her extensive breadth of knowledge from numerous clinical experiences and enjoys staying current by learning the newest technologies available. She has enjoyed raising her family of 2 daughters and numerous pets here in El Dorado County, as well as taking advantage of the variety of outdoor activities our beautiful region has to offer.
Dr. Michelle Lee, DVM

Dr. Lee joined Slate Creek Animal Hospital in the Spring of 2021. She has practiced in the Sierra Nevada foothills for many years and brings exceptional medicine and surgery skills to our large animal team. Dr. Lee thoroughly enjoys all things equine from preventive and geriatric care to lameness and reproduction. We are THRILLED to have Dr. Lee on our team at Slate Creek Animal Hospital!
